About Matt SabeanCrossFit became a major part of my life in 2012. Being an active person who played Lacrosse competitively in high school, I was looking for something to stretch my physical limits and offer me a taste of competition I had missed since my high school days. I had heard whispers of a CrossFit affiliate opening near St. John's; with nothing to lose I decided to try it. I had no idea how this decision would positively impact my life and the lives of many people around me. My first session was a humbling one as I was forced to realize that I was at the bottom of a very steep fitness hill. Despite this, I was hooked and started my climb. Four years later I started my family medicine residency in Corner Brook. Knowing there was no replacing CrossFit in my life I sought out like minded people in an effort to bring the sport of fitness to the city and those within it. In October 2015, I travelled to Ottawa and attained my Level 1 trainers certificate. One of my passions is to share my enthusiasm for a healthy and fulfilling life with as many people as possible and I am excited to do so through CrossFit Heavy Timber!

About Graham LittleGrowing up I competed in hockey, soccer and football. After leaving high school I struggled finding something that gave me the same sense of competition. I first began CrossFit in 2011 as a way to train for triathlons. Soon, CrossFit became my passion. I was able to witness how CrossFit could transform lives with its scalability. Varsity athletes worked alongside those who were pre-diabetic -- each celebrating each other's personal bests and cheering each other on. When I accepted a job in Corner Brook the first thing that I did was check to see if there was an established CrossFit gym. Failing to find one I began scouring the classifieds searching for a garage of some sort to rent where I could store my equipment. This is where I met Matt and the idea to open our own gym began to take life. After a year of hard work and picking up Jason along the way, I'm proud to say that Corner Brook has their very own box.
Cardiology Technologist, CrossFit level 1 Coach
About Cindy GillamMy first introduction to CrossFit was in 2012 in Fredericton when living there for college. From the first WOD, I was hooked. Having been active in sports all through high school and competitive in nature, CrossFit filled a void and quickly became a passion. Due to work, I moved back to Newfoundland a year later and with no local CrossFit gym, I transitioned back to traditional gym workouts. When I saw Jason's post about CrossFit coming to Corner Brook, I immediately jumped on it, started working out with the guys and shortly after completed the Level 1 training. I am thankful to have this opportunity and even more excited about being able to share my passion and help others fall in love with the sport.
Encouraging, Friendly and SupportiveKaren,
I joined CFHT because I was looking for a challenging workout and was tired of monotony of a regular gym. My goal was to strengthen my entire body and prevent further injury that was that occurring from the repetitive motions of the sports I was playing. So far I have experienced just that! My entire body is stronger, and the crew at the gym are an added bonus - encouraging, friendly, and supportive

Infinitely ScalableJayne, Over-50 CrossFitter
I was told that CrossFit would work for anyone, but, seriously, could it scale to someone who was morbidly obese and could barely get off the floor. As it turns out, it can. Thanks to the support of coaches and wonderful box-mates, I have my life back.
